Hey, young singers! Have you heard of New West Children’s Choir?
New West Children’s Choir is an exciting opportunity for students in Grades 4-7 to discover the joy of music within a Christian, faith-based community! Led by experienced music educators, this children’s choir is all about developing choral and performance skills in a supportive and fun environment.
These young singers will not only grow as musicians but also as individuals, learning the power of belonging to a like-minded group while building lifelong friendships. Throughout the September to June season, New West Children’s Choir members will perform at a variety of concerts, and will join the adult and student ensembles at New West’s annual Christmas and Spring shows at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. These youngest members of the New West community will experience a season filled with music, growth, and lots of fun!
New West Children’s Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at New West Centre for the Arts, located in central SE Calgary. For more information about the audition process, rehearsals and fees, please fill out the “Expression of Interest” form and we’ll get back to you.

Kaitlin Walker is a Alberta-born musician with a passion for bringing fun and joy to all her musical endeavors. After starting as an instrumentalist at 6 years old, she started singing seriously in high school and has gone on to sing and collaborate with many community choirs such as Spiritus Chamber Choir, and The Calgary Philharmonic Chorus. She has competed internationally and won awards for piano performance, voice, and speech. Kaitlin strongly believes in the quote from Doug Yeo, “If you have fun, you will practice. If you practice, you get better. If you get better, you play with better players. If you play with better players, you play better music. If you play better music, you have more fun. If you have more fun, you practice more. If you practice more, you get better…” All musicians have to start somewhere and you might as well make early introductions to music enjoyable!
In addition to her role as Associate Music Director of New West Children’s Choir, Kaitlin is a proud mom and wife and is the Choir and Music Director at First Baptist Church of Calgary.
