GIVING BACK & SHARING JOY
Here at New West, we believe that we are called to love the poor, the hurting, and the marginalized.
For the fourth year in a row, New West Music & Arts Society is hosting a unique concert that embodies what Christmas is all about: giving from our hearts, showing love, and sharing joy. New West’s Sharing Christmas Joy is the highlight of our Christmas season. Members of New West Symphony & Chorus, New West Student Ensemble and New West Children’s Choir are thrilled to be able to give the gift of a joyful Christmas experience to vulnerable neighbours in our community through music and gift-giving.
On December 14, 2025, the doors of the Jack Singer Concert Hall will open wide to approximately 1500 individuals and families in Calgary who are experiencing significant financial challenges, who are stressed and hurting…. and who needed an infusion of JOY into their Christmas. We are grateful for the many social service agencies who partner with us to distribute tickets to their clients, so they can attend our Sharing Christmas Joy concert. Some of these agencies include:
Mainsprings Pregnancy and Family Support Sonshine Centre
The Immigrant Education Society Emma House Kids Up Front
Inn from the Cold FearIsNotLove Ruth’s House
The Dream Centre Jesus Loves You Society
New Canadian Friendship Centre
Discovery House CSC Compassionate Ministries

Sharing Christmas Joy: SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
As a not-for-profit arts organization, New West Music & Arts Society is seeking SPONSORS to help us execute our vision for this amazing and meaningful event.
Will you help us keep “Sharing Christmas Joy” a NO-COST EVENT for people in our community to receive a much-needed infusion of JOY in their lives? We have three opportunities for individuals and corporations to join New West in our efforts to show compassion and share joy with our neighbours: financial sponsorship, donating gifts-in-kind, and volunteering.
FINANCIAL SPONSORSHIP: Budget and Breakdown
With a per-person cost of approximately $20 each (based on 1500 guests), combined being given the opportunity to experience the beauty of live choral and orchestral Christmas music in a stunning, world-class venue, New West is valuing Sharing Christmas Joy tickets at $50 each. If you would like to financially sponsor an individual guest, a family, or give a larger amount to help us cover the costs of the venue rental, here are your giving options:
- etransfer: funds@newwestsociety.com (please put “Sharing Joy” in the e-transfer message)
- credit card through New West’s CanadaHelps page (choose the “Sharing Christmas Joy” option)
- cheque: mail your donation to New West Society: PO Box 64312, RPO Thorncliffe, Calgary, AB, T2K 6J7

GIFTS-IN-KIND: Shopping with a Purpose!
As you can imagine, filling up to 1500 gift bags for people of all ages is no small feat. Between now and December 2, we are collecting small, new gift items to fill our “Sharing Christmas Joy” gift bags for our guests to take home after the concert.
- Small board books for infants
- Small toys for young boys and girls
- $10 Starbucks cards for teens and $10 Tims cards for adults
- Individually wrapped Christmas chocolates and individual packages of hot chocolate and cider
Please email giving_back@newwestsociety.com to make arrangements for your Gift-in-Kind donations to be dropped off or picked up.
VOLUNTEERING: Giving the Gift of Time
For New West, “Sharing Christmas Joy” isn’t about our ensembles performing a beautiful Christmas concert. It’s about creating a magical Christmas EXPERIENCE for each of our 1500 guests.
We have volunteer opportunities leading up to the day of the concert and need volunteers to support our Sharing Christmas Joy team on Sunday, December 14th at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. If you’d like to join New West as a “Sharing Christmas Joy” volunteer, reach out to us at giving_back@newwestsociety.com.
