Christmas with New West, our annual Christmas concert, has become a special holiday tradition for many people… The familiar carols, the lyrics that remind us of hope or conjure up fond childhood memories, the beauty of the Jack Singer… all these combined create a unique joy… the JOY of Christmas.
New West Gifts Back: Sharing Christmas Joy is our way of sharing this JOY with people in need… within the context of our mission of showing love to people through our music, by creating community, and through giving to others with a heart of compassion.
This concert, featuring performances by New West Symphony & Chorus and New West Student Ensemble, is being offered to our invited guests at no charge. But we’re hoping that New West Gifts Back will be more than just a concert. In thinking about how we can truly share Christmas Joy with others, we are trying to plan an event that allows our guest to create good memories, feel loved, and experience hope. We are filling gift-bags with gift cards, games, toys and treats so our guests can go home with a little something special from the New West Community, lovingly gifted by members and supporters.
It is our goal for at least 800 guests have the opportunity to attend New West Gifts Back. We’ve reached out to local organizations who work with individuals and families who are experiencing financial barriers – asking them to extend invitations to their clients. We’re thrilled that, so far, about 10 agencies have collectively asked for almost 600 guest tickets.
Our growing list of partnering agencies include the Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre, Kids Up Front, The Immigrant Education Society, Emma House, Inn From the Cold, the Children’s Cottage, and the Sonshine Centre.
We’re inviting individuals and businesses and small groups to help us Share Christmas JOY with our New West Gifts Back guests. Sponsoring one guest to attend New West Gifts Back costs $25 – this includes their admission ticket and a small gift. Would you consider giving $25 so that one person can share in our Christmas joy?
